Khabib Nurmagomedov Refuses Photo Due to Alcohol-Related Reason A video was shared on social media this week of Khabib Nurmagomedov respectfully declining to take a photo with a fan at a public appearance. At first, it seemed that Khabib was just refusing the photo. However, the audience quickly realized that the woman was holding what looked to be an alcoholic drink. Seconds afterwards, the fan came back without the beverage in her hand this time, and Khabib graciously obliged to have his photo taken. This little act said much about the former champion's strong personal beliefs and religious faith. Why Khabib's Faith Influenced His Decision Khabib Nurmagomedov is a religious Muslim, and his unwillingness to participate in anything that might promote alcohol is based on Islamic teachings. The Quran prohibits the use and promotion of intoxicants, as found in verses such as: "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling. are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful." - Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:90 Due to these values, Khabib avoids engaging in photos or environments that involve alcohol, in deference to his religious beliefs. Fans Laud Khabib's Integrity and Discipline Twitter users were quick to congratulate Khabib Nurmagomedov for being true to his beliefs. Responses inundated: "A man with moral values and discipline." "Money hasn't changed this man, he stayed true to his principles and beliefs." "He's a religious Muslim and doesn't want to do any kind of thing that promotes alcohol." This is the kind of reaction that shows how much respect people have for Khabib, not only as a fighter but also as an upstanding person. Khabib Nurmagomedov's Public Position on Religion and Morality Khabib has never been shy about his Islamic beliefs. Following his UFC wins, he could frequently be seen praying in the Octagon, a testament to the significance of religion in his life. During a 2023 interview on his YouTube channel, he said: "Some do not like this, but who cares? My religion instructs me to be a good man, a good family man, a good neighbor, and a good friend. This is only due to my religion." He went on to say that he prefers to represent Islam openly and proudly, acting as a role model for many worldwide.
