Novak Djokovic Withdraws From Paris Masters 2024
Defending champion Novak Djokovic has pulled out from the Paris Masters 2024. The 37-year-old featured in most of the tournaments in the later half of the season after coming back from an injury early this year.
The Serb played at the Six Kings Slam exhibition that was held in Dubai last week.
Organizers did not give a reason for Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal from the Paris Masters 2024 which starts next week.
The former world number one player said in an Instagram post he was “sorry to everyone who was hoping to see me play there.”
“I have a lot of great memories winning seven titles there and hope to be back with you next year,” he added.
Djokovic has won a record seven titles at the Paris Masters tournament. His decision not to play in this edition of the competition could jeopardize his chances to qualify for the year-end Turin ATP Finals featuring the top eight players in the race.
The 24-time Grand Slam winner currently occupies the sixth spot in the race. Four players – Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev – have already secured their berth at the season’s final event from November 10 to 17.
Djokovic was supposed to bid for the 100th-tour-level title. He has won 40 ATP Masters 1000. He has an impressive win-loss record of 50-9 in the Paris Masters tournament and has won 18 of his past 19 matches at the competition.
The ace tennis player has a win-loss record of 37-9 this season. The highlight of the season for Djokovic was the winning of a gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024 as he completed a golden slam.
