PAK vs AUS: Saim Ayub’s All-Round Show Powers Pakistan To First T20I Win

5 Min Read

PAK vs AUS: A well-rounded performance by Saim Ayub enabled Pakistan to register a 22-run victory over Australia in the first T20I match held at Lahore, giving the home team a 1-0 lead in the series. After a competitive total of 168, Pakistan’s bowling and fielding restricted Australia to 146/8, leading to a comfortable win.

Although Adam Zampa bowled an impressive spell of 4/24, Australia could not chase down the target, as Pakistan controlled crucial moments of the match, which was advertised as the PAK vs AUS match.

PAK vs AUS: Pakistan’s Innings Built on Aggression and Partnerships

However, the Pakistani innings started on a disappointing note with Sahibzada Farhan getting out to the first ball. But Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha soon changed the momentum with several boundaries and sixes.

Ayub, in particular, looked in good form, hitting back-to-back boundaries off Jack Edwards and making the most of debutant Mahli Beardman’s costly opening spell, which enabled Pakistan to reach 50 runs in the PowerPlay.

The duo of Ayub and Agha added a rapid 74-run partnership before Ayub was out at long-on, followed soon by Agha, who got out to Zampa’s clever bowling.

Middle Overs: Babar and Fakhar Keep Pakistan on Track

Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, who came together after two quick wickets, stabilized the innings. Babar Azam displayed his intentions by moving down the pitch to Zampa for a six, but was soon caught lbw while trying to reverse sweep Zampa.

Fakhar could not get going and was back in the pavilion with a modest 10, although Usman Khan momentarily boosted the run rate with two boundaries.

Pakistan lost the initiative late in the innings during the death overs when Adam Zampa made two late scalps and restricted them to 168-8 at the end of their innings. Saim Ayub strikes back after an aggressive Australian start to their innings. Australia began their innings aggressively and scored pretty freely early on in the chase thanks to a sparkling innings from Travis Head.

But Ayub made his presence felt right from the beginning with the ball, removing Matthew Short and later Head, who was compelled to holed out to Babar Azam at long-off. Australia reached 68/2 in the seventh over, but Pakistan fought back hard in the eighth over, which saw Matthew Renshaw run out and Cooper Connolly bowled for a duck.

Fielding Excellence Turns the Game

The fielding of the Pakistani players was the turning point in the PAK vs UAE match. Mitchell Owen, Cameron Green, and Jack Edwards all lost their wickets due to some excellent catching and run-outs, with Babar Azam taking a number of brilliant boundary catches. Green scored the most with a gritty 36, while Edwards’ debut was disappointing.

Late Resistance Falls Short as Pakistan Seal Victory

Xavier Bartlett lit the fireworks with an unbeaten 34, but Salman Mirza bowled a composed final over to shut the door on any hopes of a comeback, thus securing a 22-run victory and a series lead for Pakistan.

What This Means for PAK vs AUS Series
