4 Min Read

Pakistan needs to win by a margin of 63 runs or more to go ahead of New Zealand on net run rate

Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in the last match of Group 2 in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Salman Ali Agha-led side has no option other than winning the match in question if they want to book a place in the top four, but they will have to win it by a margin of 63 runs or more in order to stay in front of New Zealand as far as net run rate is concerned.

When it comes to the performance of both teams, Pakistan are coming into the match on the back of a loss against England, while their first match against NewZealand waswashed out, meaning that they have one point in their kitty and a bit of favour from England, who got the better of New Zealand in a tense game

Sri Lanka, on the other hand are in search of their first win in the Super Eight leg of the tournament, having lost the first two matches against England and New Zealand, which was the team’s thirdconsecutive loss in the competition, having lost their last game in the first round against Zimbabwe

Both teams will give their best in an attempt to win the game and achieve different goals by doing so. If Pakistan wins the match by a minimum of 63 runs after scoring 150 runs, Sri Lanka will look to end the tournament with a win.

Captains’ Corner

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka, after winning the toss and opting to bowl first, said that there might be some dew in the second innings, which is the reason why they have decided to bowl. Dasun was of the opinion that they would have to do the basics right in all three departments so as to increase their chances of winning.

Salman Ali Agha, the captain of Pakistan, said that they would have bowled first as well had they won the toss. Salman admitted that it is a mixed feeling when asked about his awareness of the calculations regarding net run rate, but also said that it can also sometimes give freedom, as it helps a team know exactly what they need to do.
