Para badminton stalwarts Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam had the honor of meeting the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan as part of the ‘The President with People’ initiative.
The meeting aimed to forge a deeper connection with these exceptional sportspersons and recognize their significant contributions to the field of para-badminton.
Commending the athletes during the interaction, President Murmu acknowledged that their stellar performances on the international stage had brought immense glory to the nation. She highlighted their remarkable achievements at the Asian Games and Para Asian Games, where their efforts led to an impressive 107 and 111 medals, respectively. This extraordinary success not only showcases their talent but also reflects their unyielding spirit.

President Murmu emphasized that these athletes are more than just sportspeople; they are ambassadors representing the rich culture, values, and spirit of a billion people. With the Paris Olympics and Paralympics approaching in 2024, she encouraged them, knowing that all eyes in India would be fixed on their performances.
Expressing his thoughts on the meeting, Pramod Bhagat shared, “It was wonderful meeting the President of India, and we had a great conversation about sports and development. She also wished us success in our upcoming Dubai Para International Tournament and the Paris Paralympics.”
Sukant Kadam added, “I gifted my racquet as a token of appreciation to the President. She encourages us to do well and wishes us for our future tournaments.”
In addition to Pramod and Sukant, other para-sportspersons including Tarun, Krishna Nagar, Nitesh Kumar, Sheetal Devi, and more were also present at this special occasion.
