Parul Chaudhary won second medal in this event
India’s Parul Chaudhary won silver medal in the women’s 5000m race at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025. The event was held in Gumi, South Korea. She finished the race in 15 minutes and 15.33 seconds.
Parul had already won one silver earlier
Before this, Parul Chaudhary also won silver in the women’s 3000m race. She completed that race in 9:12.46 seconds. That time was better than her previous National Record.

The women’s 5000m final was held on May 31. A total of 14 athletes ran in the race. Kazakhstan’s Norah Jeruto Tanui came first. She finished with a time of 14:58.71 seconds. This was a new competition record. The old record was made in 2013 by UAE’s Desalegn Betlhem with 15:12.84 seconds.
Japan got bronze, Sanjivani came fifth
The bronze medal went to Japan’s Yuma Yamamoto. She finished in 15:16.86 seconds. India’s Sanjivani Baburao Jadhav came fifth with a time of 15:36.40 seconds. This was her best time of the season. But she missed her personal best by 5 seconds.
One runner did not finish the race
Kyrgyzstan’s Ainuska Kalil Kyzy stopped in the middle of the race and did not finish.
