After Sunrisers Hyderabad’s heavy seven-wicket defeat to Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025 match on Sunday, captain Pat Cummins said that Gujarat’s pacers were tough to face.

Hyderabad batted first and scored 152/8 in their 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj took 4 wickets for 17 runs, his best IPL figures, while Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan each took 2 wickets.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was the top scorer for Hyderabad with 31 runs. Pat Cummins also played a quick knock of 22 not out off 9 balls, hitting 3 fours and a six to help his team reach over 150 runs.
“Was a bit skinny, but the Hyderabad wicket is a bit tough. A few early wickets and you are in the game. It didn’t spin much, there was a little dew around, but they batted really well. Their pace bowling was tough to play against today,” said Pat Cummins in the post-match presentation.

Washington Sundar’s Impressive Debut Performance
In response, Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 61, along with Washington Sundar’s 49 and Sherfane Rutherford’s quick 35* guided Gujarat Titans to a dominant victory with 20 balls remaining.
Making his debut for Gujarat Titans, Sundar was happy with the chance given by the team and felt satisfied with his performance with the bat.
“It is better of you calling all the adjectives. Skipper told me to bat as deep as possible and wanted to finish the game for my team. This has been the trend in Hyderabad in the last few years, the wicket gets a little better so easier to chase 160-170. I was aware of it and it helped me. Coach asked me to go in at 4 especially after we lost a couple of wickets in the early overs, rare opportunity for me and I loved my time in the middle,” he said after the match.

The only way SRH beats GT is by batting them out. Win the toss or somehow get to bat first, score 240 and win the game. GT doesn't have the batting depth to chase big totals.
