PBKS vs LSG, IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant’s tough start to the season continued on Tuesday (April 1) as he struggled with the bat once again in the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Rishabh Pant’s Struggles Continue in IPL 2025
Rishabh Pant is captaining LSG for the first time this season, but he hasn’t made much of an impact with the bat so far. In his debut game for the franchise, which was against his old team, Delhi Capitals, the wicketkeeper-batsman got out for a duck. LSG lost that match by just 1 wicket, even after reducing DC to 65/5 while defending a total of 209 runs.
In his second game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, LSG was in a strong position while chasing 191 runs when Rishabh Pant came to bat. With no pressure on him, it was the perfect chance to score some runs. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make the most of it and was dismissed for just 15 runs.
After failing in his first two matches, Rishabh Pant had another opportunity to impress the LSG fans when he came out to bat against PBKS on Tuesday. He walked in during the powerplay after LSG lost Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram in the opening four overs.
Marsh was dismissed for a duck, while Markram contributed 28 runs before getting out. This was Pant’s chance to make an impact as LSG’s captain. However, his struggles with the bat continued, and he was dismissed for another low score.
Glenn Maxwell Sends Pant Packing in Fifth Over
Glenn Maxwell ended Pant’s brief stay at the crease in the fifth over. Maxwell bowled a delivery outside the leg stump, and Rishabh Pant, looking to find his first boundary, ended up hitting the ball straight to Yuzvendra Chahal at short fine leg.
