Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes: Witnessing a high-scoring battle between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers performed a convincing all-round show to break the nine-match-winning streak of the Hobart Hurricanes on their own turf.
With a brilliant ton by Mitch Marsh, along with a stupendous all-round effort by Aaron Hardie, Perth won the match in the Big Bash League.
Mitchell Marsh’s Captain’s Knock Sets the Tone
Leading his team from the front, Mitchell Marsh smashed his second Big Bash League hundred, scoring 102 off 58 deliveries. His brilliant inning consisted of 11 fours and five sixes, which was full of elegance and domination. It seemed as if Marsh was playing under his own conditions from the very onset, as he sent the first ball over the hill at Ninja Stadium.
Although the left-hander was given a few chances in the initial stages of his innings, Marsh seized the opportunities to tweak his season that was so far so quiet.
Record-Breaking Partnership with Aaron Hardie
Marsh got the ideal partner in Aaron Hardie, as the pair combined to register the highest third-wicket partnership in BBL history, adding 164 runs to the total.
Hardie remained unbeaten on 94 off only 43 balls, hitting five sixes to destroy the bowling attack of the Hurricanes. The duo’s onslaught enabled Perth Scorchers to score an mammoth 229 for 3, which is one of the highest totals this season.
Hurricanes’ Bowlers Under Pressure
The Hurricanes were finding it very difficult to restrict the run rate. Riley Meredith had a very poor outing, conceding 61 runs without taking even one wicket, as did Chris Jordan and Nathan Ellis, who were heavily hit. Hardie, however, turned the tables squarely in Perth’s favour by hitting 26 runs off one over.
Hurricanes’ Chase Falls Short
While chasing 230, Hobart Hurricanes have lost wickets at regular intervals. There was some respite provided by Nikhil Chaudhary and Matthew Wade, as they scored some quick runs in the middle overs. Despite that, they could not hold things in control. Perth’s bowlers were on top, with Ashton Agar leading the charge, assisted by Hardie and Joel Paris.

Aaron Hardie: Crucial wickets to complement his batting heroics
