3 Min Read

Pierre Gasly has just made a massive commitment to Alpine by signing a contract extension that will keep him driving for the French team through the 2028 Formula 1 season. This news was announced at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, bringing a huge sense of stability to Alpine, especially as they gear up for a new era of Formula 1 starting in 2026 with major engine and regulation changes.

Pierre Gasly And Alpine: A Match Made In Heaven

Since joining Alpine in 2023, Pierre Gasly has proven to be a rock-solid presence amid a challenging time for the team. Currently sitting near the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship, Alpine has struggled for consistent results; however, Gasly has contributed all of the team’s points this season, with a standout best finish of sixth place at the British Grand Prix.

The Announcement

The Alpine team isn’t just keeping Pierre Gasly around for his driving skills. The backing he receives from Alpine’s leadership, especially from the newly reappointed team principal, Flavio Briatore, reflects their confidence in him. The team said in a statement, “The deal reaffirms Pierre’s commitment to Alpine and cements Alpine’s belief in Pierre as the driver to lead the team into the new regulation era in 2026 and beyond, under the leadership of Flavio Briatore and with the full backing of Renault Group led by the new CEO Francois Provost.”

Pierre Gasly On The News

Pierre Gasly himself has conveyed genuine enthusiasm about the renewed deal. He said, “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially driving for a French car company, it makes me feel very proud. Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future.”

“Flavio’s support and belief in me, Francois’ commitment to the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone, made this a natural decision, and I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and World Championships. We’re all in this together, and I look forward to continuing this special story.”

As for his teammate situation, there remains some uncertainty. This season, Pierre Gasly had two teammates, Jack Doohan and Argentine racer Franco Colapinto, taking turns in the second seat, but Alpine has yet to finalise who’ll partner Gasly next year. Regardless of the pairing, the team’s confidence in Gasly as their cornerstone driver sends a strong signal about where their focus lies.
