In a stunning reversal of fortunes in PKL Season 12, U Mumba penned a stunning comeback to down Tamil Thalaivas 36-33 at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag on Sunday. Despite a Super 10 by Arjun Deshwal, it was Ajit Chouhan and Anil Mohan who spearheaded U Mumba’s late rally to win against the odds.
Strong Start, Momentum Shift: First Half Highlights
U Mumba began well, courtesy of some precise raiding by Ajit Chouhan. But, a Do-or-Die raid by Arjun Deshwal in the 16th minute reversed the script in favour of the Thalaivas.
Anil Mohan, PKL 12’s costliest Category D player, saved U Mumba from going out of the game with a crucial touch and bonus raid, complemented by a Super Tackle by Rinku. Tamil Thalaivas were ahead 14-11 at halftime, as Pawan sent Sunil Kumar packing just before the interval.
Arjun Deshwal’s Super 10 Keeps Thalaivas Ahead
Early in the second half, Thalaivas gave an ALL OUT to U Mumba to increase their lead. Arjun Deshwal did back-to-back Super 10s, whereas Nitesh Kumar and Pawan did not let up, increasing the lead to nine points. The match looked destined for Tamil Thalaivas’ victory until the last five minutes saw a dramatic shift in momentum.
Ajit Chouhan & Anil Mohan Spark U Mumba’s Comeback
Running out of time, U Mumba breathed new life with Ajit Chouhan and Anil Mohan slicing the gap to two points. The Thalaivas folded under pressure, and U Mumba prevented another ALL OUT while delivering one on the Thalaivas instead turning the game in their direction.
Pawan made a crucial blunder in the dying minutes which locked in Tamial Thalaivas’ fate as Sunil Kumar led U Mumba to complete the incredible comeback and secure the first victory of PKL Season 12.
