The toughest league returns next weekend for its final stretch. Premier League resumes on the 1st of April for its 29th Match day.
The weekend starts with a clash that will be pivotal in the title race. Second-placed Manchester City will host Liverpool who sits at sixth position in the first game. Arsenal leads the table as they sit 8 points above City who has one game in hand.
The title race for Arsenal
Arsenal will later in the day take on Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium. The race to the title is going to be tough for Arsenal as they face tough challenges over the next month.
After facing Leeds, Arsenal will travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on 9th April. Then later in the month, Arsenal faces title race rival City on the 27th at the Etihad Stadium and just two days later on the 29th, they will face their North London Rival Chelsea at the Emirates.
Battle for Champions League spot
With Arsenal and City almost securing their spots for the Champions League the last two spots will be up for grabs and will have at least four teams battling out for these spots. Manchester United currently sits in third position and has 50 points in 26 games. Ideally, one can think that they will be able to hold on to their spot but we have seen crazier things happen in the league.
Tottenham Hotspurs sits in the fourth position with just 49 points in 28 games. Both Newcastle United and Liverpool have played 26 games and can pose a challenge to Spurs for the fourth spot. Currently, Newcastle has 47 points in 26 games and has won their last two Premier League fixtures. On the other hand, Liverpool has 42 points in 26 games and needs some wins to challenge for the Champions League spot.
The battle of relegation
Southampton currently sits at the bottom of the table with 23 points in 28 games. Accompanying Southampton are Bournemouth and West Ham both having 24 points and having played 27 and 26 games respectively.
The 2015-16 Premier League winners Leicester City are also in the danger zone as they are 17th in the rankings having 25 points in 27 games. Recently promoted Nottingham Forrest also has a tough fight in front of them to avoid relegation as they have only managed to gain 26 points in 27 games. Both Everton and Leeds have also managed only 26 points having played 28 and 27 games respectively. It is their goal difference that separates them from Forrest.
