Primeira Liga: Revived Sporting Clube de Portugal on verge of Portuguese title

Primeira Liga new champions Sporting Clube de Portugal after 19 years.

Sporting Clube de Portugal will win the Primeir Liga title this season as they are at the top of the league table with 6 points clear from the FC Porto. with four games in hand still to play. Sporting are on the verge of winning the first title in 19 years following an exciting change.

Sporting is the club that Cristiano Ronaldo was part of it until 2003 and it was his first club of the legendary player who is currently with Juventus until 2022 season ends.  

The Portuguese club three years following fans attacked players at their training ground on one of their most nebulous days, and now they will be winning a title with an exceptional season, and fans will remember it forever now. And Ruben Amorim’s side are still unbeaten following 30 games and if they are able to secure a victory over Rio Ave on Wednesday would take them nine points clear of FC Porto with three games left in hands.

The club finished fourth last season, 22 points behind champions Porto, and were grappling to fill the hole left after talismanic skipper Bruno Fernandes joined Manchester United.

“This mix between homegrown players and experienced ones has been a huge success for us, sometimes they don’t play much, but they are just as important as those who participate more.” Amorim continued

“The biggest success of the coaching staff and these players were changing the dynamic of the club, it is very difficult to do this in one year, and I’m lucky to have a group of players who are at the level this club requires. We’re almost there, although we still have a lot to do.” Amorim said on Tuesday.

The Sporting CP in their last three games team had earned 22 points, thanks to goals scored in the final 10 minutes of matches. Netting twice to draw 2-2 with Belenenses, winning 1-0 at Braga after having a man sent off early on and then beating Nacional 2-0.
