PSA Squash World Championships 2024-25: Players To Watch
Egypt, who have been ruling the sport on world stage, will look to dominated the world championship on the American soil. The country has clinched both the men’s and women’s competition at the World Squash Team Championships last year in Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China.
Ali Farag, the Egyptian giant, is the men’s top seed and four-time world champion will look to reclaim his crown. The 33-year-old lost in last year’s semi-finals, ending his run of three straight titles,
Peru’s Diego Elías, on the other hand, will be seeking his first world championship. He is seeded third for this year’s worlds behind the player he beat in the 2024 final, Egypt’s Mostafa Asal.
Asal ia another big name to look for in Chicago. He recently leapfrogged compatriot Farag to head into this tournament as the world No 1 and will be hoping to prove his credentials.
In the women’s competition, Egypt’s “Big Three” would be a force to reckon with at Squash World Championships 2024-25. Nouran Gohar enters the race as the world No 1 and on the back of her first world title win last year.
Gohar beat compatriot Nour El Sherbini in the final, having lost to her in the previous three finals.
Sherbinir, a seven-time world champion, is bidding to match Nicol David’s all-time record of eight.
Hania El Hammamy completes this “Big Three”. The 24-year-old is the youngest of this trio and is eyeing a maiden world title after three semi-final exits.
