A pulsating PSL 2025 MS vs LQ spectacle saw Sikandar Raza and Daryl Mitchell be the heroes with the bat, helping Lahore Qalandars to a thrilling win against Multan Sultans, with their explosive partnership leading Qalandars past 185 with an over to spare in the PSL. The Qalandars now sit in second spot on the PSL 2025 log.
Sultans Post a Competitive 185 Following Slow Beginning

Batting first, Multan Sultans had a slow beginning, with Qalandars’ pace attack keeping the openers on a tight leash. The powerplay saw just 39 runs and the loss of Yasir Khan. Mohammad Rizwan, as much as he anchored the innings, could not kickstart early and had to fight hard on a slow wicket.
Tom Curran’s slow balls were simply a nightmare for the Sultans’ middle order. He bowled Shai Hope in the 11th over with a ball that seamed in to hit the gate for a crash, leaving Sultans in a tricky situation at 70 for 3.
The momentum started to turn when Kamran Ghulam came to the wicket to join Rizwan. They had some important partnerships at a good rat,e with Rizwan being unbeaten on 48 balls for 76 runs, and Ghulam hit a rapid 52* off 31 balls. The last overs bowled by Haris Rauf were expensive (20 runs offthe final over) to push a total of 185 for 3, which was in a reasonable ballpark.
Pursuing 185, Lahore Qalandars batted with the intent to attack. Although Mohammad Naeem got out early, Abdullah Shafique held the innings together with style, displaying elegant strokeplay – his flick against Mohammad Hasnain was the pick of the lot.
The game shifted when Ubaid Shah removed two batsmen in the 12th over, getting rid of Shafique and Sam Billings. At that stage, the chase seemed evenly poised.

Enter Sikandar Raza and Daryl Mitchell, and they were able to wrestle the innings back on track. Mitchell was slow out of the blocks, but with Sikandar Raza accompanying him, who was aggressive and did some serious damage, they formed a destructive partnership of 89, with each of them hitting 4 sixes, and tore through the Sultans’ bowlers in the middle overs.
The pair were able to smash the Sultans for 14, 11, and 18 runs in the 13th, 14th, and 15th over,s respectively, which flipped the game in Qalandars’ favour. Mitchell timed his innings to perfection and scored 64 off 38 balls(11 x fours and 4 x sixes), when he was dismissed in the 19th over, whereas Raza was not out on 40 off 21 balls(2 x fours and 3 x sixes) with 6 balls to spare.
Sultans in Trouble After Fifth Loss
This loss puts Multan Sultans on the brink of elimination in PSL 2025. With five defeats, they are at the bottom of the table and now have a do-or-die game with four league matches left to play. Their failure to complete games and give full performances is still proving expensive.
