PUBG is preparing for one of its biggest visual upgrades yet, and as part of this change, the developers have confirmed that support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will officially end on November 13, 2025. This update comes shortly after the announcement that PUBG will gradually transition to Unreal Engine 5, which promises major improvements to graphics and performance.

Why PUBG Will No Longer Support Older Consoles

In the PUBG 2025 development roadmap, the studio explained that the move to Unreal Engine 5 will bring enhanced lighting, better textures, improved map details, and a more realistic atmosphere overall. However, these upgrades will also make the game more demanding, especially in terms of performance and memory.

Older consoles like PS4 and Xbox One are not powerful enough to run the upgraded version of PUBG smoothly. To maintain stability and visual quality, the developers had to shift focus to current-generation hardware and PC.

What This Means for Players

From November 13, 2025, PUBG will run only on:

  • Xbox Series X | Xbox Series S
  • PC

The game will no longer be playable on:

  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox One

PUBG Mobile is not affected, as it follows its own update cycle.

Expected Performance on Supported Consoles

Console Resolution Frame Rate
Xbox Series S 1080p / 1440p 60fps / 30fps
Xbox Series X 2160p 60fps
PlayStation 5 1440p 60fps
PlayStation 5 Pro 2160p 60fps

These settings are aimed at balancing visual quality and smooth gameplay, especially for large-scale battles.

A Step Toward the Future of PUBG

This shift marks a major milestone for PUBG. The move to Unreal Engine 5 signals the start of a new era for the game’s look and feel. Maps, environment lighting, character models, and weapon textures are expected to look significantly more realistic once the transition is complete.

However, the exact release date of the full UE5 update has not been confirmed yet.
