Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announces Mo Bobat as Director of Cricket for the IPL 2024 season, bringing his experience from the England Cricket Board to the franchise.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has unveiled Mo Bobat as the Director of Cricket in preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

Mo Bobat, who has served the England Cricket Board (ECB) for 12 years and held the position of Performance Director since 2019, is set to take on a pivotal role with RCB. His significant contributions have been instrumental in shaping England’s innovative cricket approach, resulting in their dominance in international cricket, including T20I and ODI World Cup victories, along with captivating Ashes performances.

Bobat reunites with RCB’s head coach, Andy Flower, with whom he has previously collaborated during their time with the England team. Together, they aim to usher in a new era of success for RCB.

As a 40-year-old leader, Bobat was responsible for identifying, nurturing, and preparing a vast pool of cricket talent in England across various formats. In his new role with RCB, he will oversee talent recruitment, performance strategies, and endeavors to establish a culture of excellence and high performance for sustained success.

He continued, “I am eagerly looking forward to collaborating closely with Andy Flower, a familiar face, as we embark on the journey to deliver the success that RCB aspires to achieve. While my departure from the ECB is a difficult decision, I am immensely grateful for the opportunities and support I have received over the years. I carry with me cherished memories, shared achievements, and meaningful friendships. Andy and I are eagerly anticipating the challenges ahead, and we are committed to helping Faf and the players unlock their full potential.”

Regarding Bobat’s appointment, Prathmesh Mishra, Chief Commercial Officer at Diageo India and Chairman of RCB, commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Mo Bobat as the Director of Cricket for RCB in the IPL. RCB has always emphasized a performance-driven approach and has strived to create a culture that embodies the ‘playbold’ philosophy.”
