The UEFA Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Chelsea ended with a draw score of 1-1 each at Real Madrid in the opening act of a two-leg semifinal.

Christian Pulisic scores a vital away goal, an advantage for the Blues. Chelsea grabbed a potentially vital away goal in a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in their Champions League semi-final first-leg tie

Real Madrid have now failed to win all four games against Chelsea. Chelsea is the team that Madrid has faced the most without defeating in club history.

Thomas Tuchel has remained undefeated against all of these managers since taking over at Chelsea: – Mourinho, Simeone, Solskjaer, Klopp, Bielsa, Ancelotti, Guardiola, Zidane.

The Blues will return home to west London for next Wednesday’s return leg, needing a victory or a scoreless draw to secure passage to the championship game in Istanbul against Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain. Pulisic’s strike provided a vital away goal — the first tiebreaker, should the teams finish even on aggregate score.

They will compete in the second leg on May 5 at Stamford Bridge in London.
