Real Madrid Players Could Be Banned From Champions League Quarter Finals Against Arsenal
Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr could reportedly be banned for their Champions League clash with Arsenal for alleged “indecent conduct”.
An Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been assigned by UEFA to investigate the conduct of Mbappe, Vinicius, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Ceballos following Real Madrid’s thrilling victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16 on March 12 via penalty shootout.
The second leg that was played at the Wanda Metropolitano
The second leg that was played at the Wanda Metropolitano saw the game extend beyond the regulation time and enter into penalties. The game was very interesting and the penalties were icing on the cake as the Julian Alvarez penalty got overturned as VAR intervened and deemed the goal ineffective because Alvarez had touched the ball twice while kicking the penalty.

This penalty and the Marcos Llorente penalty that he aimed at the crossbar saw Real Madrid win the tie and the Madrid derby. The celebration went wild when Antonio Rudiger slotted the final penalty and might have just landed themselves in the trouble meanwhile.
Antonio Rudiger’s gesture, which appeared to be a throat-slitting motion
Antonio Rudiger’s gesture, which appeared to be a throat-slitting motion aimed at the Atletico supporters, is one of the major instances under investigation. Mbappe appears to have made a crotch-grabbing gesture during the festivities, according to video footage that has been making the rounds on social media.
The players may be subject to fines, suspensions, or both if the investigation results in charges and a guilty verdict.

A statement from UEFA read: “A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct by Real Madrid CF players (Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, Daniel Ceballos and Vinicius Junior) during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match between Club Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid CF on 12 March 2025.”
Real Madrid will play their next match in the Champions League against Arsenal on 8th April
Real Madrid will play their next match in the Champions League against Arsenal on 8th April in the Emirates. Real Madrid would hope that nobody gets reprimanded for the investigation as it can prove to be a pivotal point in the quarter finals of the tournament.
Atletico Madrid fans were visibly unhappy as their city rivals had yet again ousted them from the tournament. Atletico fans also hurled racial slurs along with water bottles at the Real Madrid players who later had to be escorted out of the pitch.
