Somerset have confirmed that Riley Meredith will be back as one of their overseas signings for the 2026 Vitality Blast. The Australian fast bowler returns at the age of 29, having played a crucial role as Somerset won the title last summer in 2025.

Meredith’s Impactful Record at Somerset

During his spells with the franchise so far, Riley Meredith has produced performances such as:

Leading wicket-taker in 2025 with 28 wickets.

Those led Somerset’s road to the 2024 final.

Overall record: 42 wickets at 18.47 with an economy rate of 8.16

His raw pace and aggression with the ball have made him a real presence in Somerset’s T20 setup.

Club Management Praises Meredith’s Return

Somerset’s director of cricket, Andy Hurry, showed great confidence in Riley Meredith and his impact on the squad. He mentioned that Meredith’s “real pace and aggression” could always test the opposition batsmen and give Somerset’s attack an added dimension. The supporters and members of the club would no doubt be pleased with his return as they lead into the title defense of 2026.

International Experience and 2026 Availability

Riley Meredith has represented Australia in one ODI and six T20Is, although he hasn’t played for his country since 2024, when he missed Finals Day through national duty. This means he will be available throughout the competition, which starts in May and runs through to July for the 2026 Blast.

Meredith Excited for Taunton Comeback

Having reflected upon his previous seasons with Somerset, Riley Meredith expressed his enthusiasm about joining the squad once again. He said how much he enjoyed being at the club, praised the excellent team culture, and spoke of his desire to return to Taunton and perform in front of its passionate supporters.
