Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma left for Australia on November 23rd and reached the country on November 24th. Upon arriving in Australia, India captain Rohit Sharma wasted no time and immediately went to the training facilities at Optus Stadium in Perth. There, he practiced batting with the pink ball in the nets.
Rohit Sharma made his return to the Indian team in the ongoing warm-up match against Prime Minister’s XI, where he won the toss and chose to field first. In the playing XI for the warm-up game, Rohit decided to bat at number five, allowing KL Rahul to continue opening the innings.
KL Rahul played an instrumental role in Rohit’s absence during the first Test in Perth. He played a brilliant knock of 77 runs off 176 balls. He, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, shared a crucial 201-run partnership in the second innings, which helped the Indian cricket team build a massive lead of 247 runs. Rahul displayed great composure at the crease, leaving the ball early and capitalizing on every loose delivery from the Australian bowlers.
KL Rahul was under significant pressure coming into the series due to a series of low scores. It will be interesting to see whether the Indian captain will be able to bounce back in his form or not.
