After reports have suggested that Lewandowski’s contract has been renewed till 2025-26, it has to come to light that to trigger the extension Lewa had to atleast play for half a season in the 2024-25 campaign.
It now seems that the player and club will soon be agreeing on personal terms to extend his contract until the end of 2025-26 season.
Despite rumours of the Polish striker being linked with an exit during the summer after producing a poor performance last season, Barcelona continued with Lewandowski.
But this season, the striker has been in the best form of his life scoring 30 goals and assisting 3 in 32 games. A staggering 33 g/a in just 32 games at the age of 36 years at the highest level just speaks of Lewandowski’s sharpness and technique that makes him the 3rd highest goal scorer of the current era just behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

After being a shadow of himself last season, this time around he has returned to his prolific goal scoring methods, if not even better. The appointment of Hansi Flick has also helped Lewandowski get back at it, as the last time this manager-striker duo was running the game, the Bundesliga scoring records came falling down.

Often disregarded for his contribution to football, he has always been underrated due to his career mostly being in the Bundesliga, which has less viewership in comparison to other leagues. He has joined some of the greatest legends of Football in terms of goals scoring and stands tall at the 15th position of the all-time goal scoring lists.
His fans believe he should have won the Ballon D’or in the 2020-21 season but as the awards were cancelled that year, he never got the award and the recognition he deserved. He scored 48 goals that season in 40 matches as the season had less matches due to the COVID intrusion.
The next campaign, he again managed to score 50 goals but was only awarded the Gerd Muller Trophy at the French awards. After completing phenomenal campaigns at Bayern, he joined Barcelona to try a new challenge which he aced as well as he was the highest goalscorer in the LaLiga and the rightful recipient of The Pichichi award.
