Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma showed his strong support for the Indian armed forces, praising their efforts on the frontlines and encouraging people to act responsibly.
On Thursday, Pakistan carried out air strikes on Jammu and some military bases near the western border, but India’s air defense systems stopped the attacks successfully.
The attack, which used drones and missiles, caused power outages and sirens in many parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. During this tense time, Rohit Sharma posted on X to thank the Indian armed forces and urged people to follow safety guidelines.
“With every passing moment, with every decision taken I feel extremely proud of our Indian Army, Indian Airforce & Indian Navy. Our warriors are standing tall for our nation’s pride,” Rohit wrote in his post on X.
“It’s important for every Indian to be responsible and refrain from spreading or believing any fake news. Stay safe, everyone!”
With tensions rising between India and Pakistan, even cricket was affected, as the Indian Premier League came to a sudden stop last night in Dharamshala.
Emergency measures were put in place across many areas, including Dharamshala, where the IPL 2025 match between PBKS and DC was halted after 10.2 overs. This was due to a power outage following air raid alerts in nearby cities like Jammu and Pathankot.
The safety of players and fans is now the top priority, and the blackout has raised doubts about the rest of the IPL 2025 season.
Reports suggest that the BCCI may think about changing the schedule of the ongoing 18th season of the Indian Premier League if security risks grow across the country.
“We are reviewing the situation right now. It is an evolving situation. We haven’t received any directive from the government. The decision will be taken keeping all the logistics in mind,” said IPL chief Arun Dhumal to PTI.
