Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has been tested positive for COVID-19 as confirmed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday. BCCI made a statement regarding the captain’s (Rohit Sharma) health.

A Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) test was conducted on Saturday on Rohit Sharma, where he came positive and was told to isolate for some days until he is fully recovered. Rohit Sharma tested positive ahead of the big game i.e. 6th Test match between England and India which is starting on 1st July. Indian team is already leading this serie by 2-1 and are very close to making history against England in England.

Rohit Sharma did play in the practice match against Leicestershire in England where whole Indian Test squad were involved. The practice Test match against Leicestershire is still going on, but Rohit Sharma has been rested after his reports came positive on Saturday. Skipper Rohit Sharma will be leading the side for the first time in Test cricket in England. This is a very important Test match (6th Test). Indian fans would be hoping Rohit comes back early and joins the team before this game against England.

“UPDATE- TeamIndia Captain Mr Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 following a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on Saturday. He is currently in isolation at the team hotel and is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team,” BCCI reported on Saturday night on their official Twitter handle.
