India Set For One Final Rehearsal For T20 World Cup 2026

According to ESPNcricinfo, the defending champions will face South Africa in their only warm-up game before the 20-team tournament gets underway on February 7. The World Cup opener will see Pakistan take on the Netherlands.

The fixture against South Africa adds extra intrigue, as the two sides met in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup. On that occasion, Rohit Sharma’s team emerged victorious, finally ending India’s long ICC title drought.

T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistan and Other Big Teams Finalise Preparations

Pakistan, who share a group with India in the tournament, will also play one warm-up match. They are set to face Ireland on February 4 in Colombo.

England and Australia, meanwhile, will skip warm-up games entirely. However, both teams will still head into the tournament well prepared, with England playing a bilateral series against Sri Lanka and Australia taking on Pakistan ahead of the World Cup.

T20 World Cup 2026: Scotland’s Late Entry and Busy Warm-Up Schedule

Scotland, who were drafted into the competition at the last moment, will play two warm-up matches. They are scheduled to face Afghanistan on February 2 and Namibia on February 4.

Scotland replaced Bangladesh after the latter refused to travel to India due to security concerns, a situation that ultimately forced the ICC to make a tough decision.

T20 World Cup 2026: Full Warm-Up Schedule and Key Dates

The warm-up phase will begin on February 2 and conclude on February 6, with the final fixture seeing India A take on Namibia in Bengaluru. In total, 15 warm-up matches will be played across five days, giving teams valuable match practice before the main event.
