Shadab Khan Ruled Out of Pakistan’s Clash with Bangladesh in Men’s ODI WC Due to Concussion
Pakistan’s all-rounder Shadab Khan is sidelined with a concussion, impacting their crucial World Cup match against Bangladesh. Will Pakistan secure a must-win victory?

Pakistan’s versatile player, Shadab Khan, will miss the crucial ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 encounter against Bangladesh after suffering a concussion during a recent match against South Africa.
Shadab sustained the injury while making a valiant effort to effect a direct hit at the non-striker’s end from his position at mid-on. Unfortunately, he tumbled forward and had to be taken off the field. In response to this unfortunate incident, Pakistan brought in Usama Mir as a concussion substitute.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement, confirming Shadab Khan’s concussion, stating, “Shadab Khan sustained a concussion during Pakistan’s match against South Africa. Following a thorough medical assessment, the decision was made to rule him out of the forthcoming clash with Bangladesh.”

The statement further assured, “Every necessary precaution is being taken to ensure his health and well-being. He will continue to be closely monitored over the coming days.”
This incident marks the third concussion for Shadab Khan since September of the previous year. He previously encountered a collision with a teammate during a Vitality T20 Blast match in May this year and faced a similar issue during the Asia Cup final in Dubai last year, when his head collided with Asif Ali’s elbow while fielding.
With their hopes of reaching the semifinals at stake, Pakistan faces a must-win situation against Bangladesh. A convincing victory is imperative, as a fifth loss in the tournament would effectively eliminate their chances of progressing further, even with two matches still on the horizon.
Bangladesh, having won the toss, have opted to bat first. At the time of this report, Bangladesh is at 18/2 in 5.3 overs.
