Shai Hope is one of the most decorated West Indian cricketers. He has won several accolades including the Wisden Cricketer of the Year and Cricket West Indies’ Award for the best Test, ODI, and T20I cricketer of the year. 

When West Indies toured England in the year 2017, Hope became the first batter to hit a century in both innings of a first-class match at Headingley, Leeds against England.

Hope guided the West Indies team to a win against England for the first time since 2000.

Hope is the third-fastest batsman to reach 4,000 ODI runs and the fastest West Indian to go past 5,000 ODI runs and equaled the legendary Sir Vivian Richards’ record. 

Despite playing only 14 first-class games before his international debut, Hope earned a spot on the national team by scoring a double century against the Windward Islands team during the Regional four-day competition.

Hope’s prominence reached the top after a remarkable 2014-15 season where he was the fourth highest run-getter with a double century to his credit.

Regarded as one of the finest batters in the present scenario, Hope was named in the ICC ODI Team of the Year in 2020 and 2022.

Hope made his International debut with a Test series against England on May 1 2015. Shai Hope has contested in 38 matches to date in his Test career and scored 1,726 runs, at an average of 25.

The Barbadian marked his One Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka in Harare, Zimbabwe On November 16, 2016. He has featured in 124 ODI matches to date scoring 5,177 runs, at an average of 50.

The power-hitter played his first T20 International against New Zealand at Nelson on December 29, 2017 and played 30 matches to date He has scored 616 runs, with an average of 25.
