Shukla Dutta Appointed Chief Coach of India U19 Women’s Team

Shukla Dutta appointed chief coach, Sradhanjali Samantaray as assistant coach, and Ronibala Chanu as goalkeeper coach for India U19 women’s team.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced the key appointments for the coaching staff of the India U19 women’s team for the upcoming SAFF Championships in February. Former India woman international Shukla Dutta has been appointed as the chief coach, with Sradhanjali Samantaray named as the assistant coach and Lourembam Ronibala Chanu as the goalkeeper coach.

The decision was made during a virtual meeting of the AIFF Technical Committee, chaired by former India captain IM Vijayan. The meeting, attended by AIFF Acting Secretary General Satyanarayan M and other committee members, including Pinky Bompal Magar, Harjinder Singh, Arun Malhotra, Climax Lawrence, and Eugeneson Lyngdoh, along with Technical Director Syed Sabir Pasha, finalized the coaching staff selection.

Shukla Dutta, a former India international with coaching experience, had previously led the Indian U17 women’s team and guided Rising Student Club to the Indian Women’s League title in 2017-18. The committee also approved the appointment of Sradhanjali Samantaray as the assistant coach and Lourembam Ronibala Chanu as the goalkeeper coach.

The Indian U19 women’s team is scheduled to commence its training camp in Goa in early January to prepare for the upcoming SAFF U19 Women’s Championship. The tournament holds significance as it serves as a crucial platform for talented players to transition to the senior level.

Expressing his satisfaction with the selection, the AIFF Acting Secretary General highlighted the importance of the SAFF U19 Women’s Championship and the meticulous process undertaken for coaching staff selection. He particularly emphasized the achievement of having an all-women technical staff for the U19 women’s team.
