Earlier Barcelona took the top position after their fifth straight win. The game was marred by racist chants aimed at Brazilian forward Vinicius junior. Fans also threw objects at him after a Real Madrid goal. Meanwhile, another Brazilian, Rodryo, scored the first goal in the 18th minute. He danced with Vinicius as Atletico supporters continued racist slurs.
When Real Madrid beat the crowd
Talking after the match, Rodrygo expressed displeasure at crowd behaviour. “Derbies are always important but today was a bit different from what happened during the week,” said Rodrygo.”We responded on the pitch, and I only talk for myself. I am very happy to play well and to score another goal,” he added.

Atletico tried to fight back. A fierce drive from Griezmann flew past the post. Meanwhile, Real hit back as Fede Valverde followed up Luka Modric’s chance to find the net from close range. The Uruguayan has four goals and two assists in seven games across all competitions. Mario Hermoso pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute. But, it was not enough in the end for Atletico Madrid.
With this win, Real Madrid continued their dream run in 2022. The Spanish titans have now won all the nine matches they played this season across all competitions.
