590 players will be auctioned off in the Mega Auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League. In addition to Indian talents Ravichandran Ashwin, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, and Mohammed Shami, ten of these players are on the marquee list. Six international players are also included on the list.

Multiple franchises will be looking for a captain at the IPL mega auction, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore could be one of them. Virat Kohli revealed his decision to step down as captain of the franchise before of the second part of the 2021 season, and while Bangalore kept another veteran player in Glenn Maxwell ahead of the auction, it is likely that they will look for a new skipper.
On his official YouTube channel, former India opener Aakash Chopra revealed that the RCB may be storing a large sum for Shreyas Iyer.

“It’ll be intriguing,” says the narrator. It was made public. Shreyas Iyer might be able to walk away with 15-16 crore. Someone further informed me that RCB had set aside a sum of Rs. 20 crore for him. “Wow!” I exclaim. Chopra explained.

The Delhi Capitals released Iyer after the 2021 season; he captained the team for three seasons (2018, 2019, and 2020).

“I wouldn’t recommend spending Rs. 20 crore on somebody because it won’t be worthwhile.” The team will merely be unbalanced, but that is my impression. Chopra continued, “You may have a good captain, but your team may be weak.”

Being a star player, according to the former Indian opener, could be “counter-productive” if the team isn’t looking for a captain.

“Coming in marquee list can be unproductive if you’re simply looking at a single player.” Franchises may choose to wait (for the next batch of players) if the player goes unsold,” Chopra explained.
