South Africa vs Pakistan: The first SA vs PAK T20 at Rawalpindi was won dominantly by South Africa by 55 runs, as Pakistan could not chase a tough target of 195 runs. The host team never managed to gain momentum, with their batsmen crumbling under the tight bowling attack of the Proteas seamers and spinners.

Corbin Bosch and George Linde Shine with the Ball in South Africa vs Pakistan

All-rounder Corbin Bosch was the best South African player, producing an incredible spell of 4 wickets for only 14 runs in his 4 overs. His accuracy and variations tore through Pakistan’s middle order, swinging the game in favor of the Proteas. George Linde also impressed with his left-arm spin, picking up 3 wickets for 31 runs, troubling the Pakistani batsmen throughout the middle overs.

Lizaad Williams, however, added two crucial wickets with his contributions, and Lungi Ngidi, while being a bit on the costly side, was able to pick up a vital scalp too.

Proteas Put Up Competitive Score After Strong Beginning

South Africa, losing the toss, were required to bat. Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks, who opened the innings, offered a quick start, making the most of the powerplay.

Pakistan’s Saim Ayub broke the shackles in the 4th over by removing de Kock, but Tony de Zorzi walked with Hendricks to keep the score ticking, taking the visitors to 70+ runs within the powerplay.

Mohammad Nawaz Leads Pakistan’s Fightback

Pakistan’s expectations of containing SA were all through Mohammad Nawaz, who chipped in with a good spell by picking up de Zorzi and Dewald Brevis in consecutive overs. Nawaz took 3 wickets, while Saim Ayub provided good support with early strikes.

Notwithstanding the late fightback, Reeza Hendricks kept the innings intact with a smooth half-century, taking South Africa to 194 all out at the conclusion of their innings.

Pakistan Batting Falters Under Pressure

Pursuing 195, Pakistan’s top order also did not establish partnerships against a clinical South African bowling attack.
The dismissals of Saim Ayub and Babar Azam early in the innings left the top order under stress, while the middle order never seized the opportunity to build momentum.

The hosts made gradual but consistent progress towards their target as they lost wickets at a regular tempo, until they were finally defeated by 55 runs.

The Proteas’ strategic bowling plan built the foundation for success, with Bosch’s pace and Linde’s spin exposing Pakistan’s ability to trust the slower ball, in certain periods of the match while playing at home.
