Sport Climbing World Cup Salt Lake City 2025: Japanese athletes to watch
Team Japan continues to set the standard in the Boulder discipline, currently occupying four of the top five spots in the men’s world rankings. Leading the charge are the following athletes.
Sorato Anraku
Sorato Anraku has become the climber to beat. With back-to-back World Cup wins in Keqiao and Curitiba, the 17-year-old has been in red-hot form. In Brazil, he led all three rounds confirming his place as the world’s top-ranked Boulderer.
With the momentum firmly in his favour, the Olympic silver medallist eyes his third gold of the season in Salt Lake City.
Tomoa Narasak
Tomoa Narasaki enters the competition with more than a decade of experience to the wall. With a bronze in Curitiba, the former world champion remains one of the podium contenders. The Olympic finalist has in him to turn around the momentum on his side.
Miho Nonaka
Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Miho Nonaka is another contender for podium in the Sport Climbing World Cup. He headlines Team Japan in the women’s competition. She recently claimed victory at the Boulder Japan Cup and her international exposure will surely come handy. She would look to return to the top after her last Boulder World Cup win came in 2023.
