Former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi has once again managed to grab all the limelight, and once again for all the wrong reasons. Lalit Modi and former Australian captain Michael Clarke revived the infamous “slap-gate” scandal involving former Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth.

Lalit Modi released the unseen video of the “slap-gate” scandal

The controversy resurfaced when Lalit Modi revealed the never-before-seen footage of the 2008 altercation between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth following an IPL match between the Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). The video clip was taken from the security cameras of the stadium and was never leaked for humanitarian reasons.

In the video, Harbhajan Singh can be seen slapping Sreesanth with the back of his hand. Immediately after getting slapped by Harbhajan Singh, who was MI’s captain, Sreesanth broke down in tears on the field. In the video, Harbhajan can be seen proceeding to return towards Sreesanth, making an animated gesture before Mahela Jayawardene and Irfan Pathan interfered. Teammates and opposition players rushed to Sreesanth to calm him down.

The controversy shook the entire cricketing industry and is labelled as one of the ugliest controversies in the history of the Indian Premier League. Though a few pictures of the controversy were already out on the internet, however, the video of the infamous incident was not available anywhere until now.

As soon as Lalit Modi released the video of the ‘slap-gate’ controversy, it went viral on the internet and gained traction from all corners. Many cricketers and prominent people from the industry slammed Lalit Modi for his controversial move.

Bhuvneshwari Sreesanth slammed Lalit Modi for reopening the painful episode

Among many, Bhuvneshwari Sreesanth, the wife of former Indian pacer Sreesanth, also took to her social media and slammed the former IPL chairman and former Australian captain Michael Clarke for reviving the controversy.

Reacting to the viral clip of the infamous controversy, Bhuvneshwari took to her Instagram and shared a strong statement slamming both Modi and Clarke for chasing attention by reopening the painful episode. She wrote:

Shame on you, Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke. You people are not even human to drag up something from 2008 just for your own cheap publicity and views. Both @sreesanthnair36 and Harbhajan have long moved on; they are fathers now with school-going children, and yet you try to throw them back into an old wound. Absolutely disgusting, heartless, and inhuman,”
