Sri Lanka prepares to host Zimbabwe for an anticipated white-ball series in January 2024. The tour comprises three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is, starting with a three-game ODI series from January 6, followed by a T20I series spanning January 14-18.
Zimbabwe’s return marks their first bilateral visit to the Island nation since 2022. Notably, they have displayed commendable form against Sri Lanka, clinching a memorable 3-2 ODI series victory during their 2017 tour.
After a disappointing campaign in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, where Sri Lanka fell short of the knockout stage, the upcoming series holds immense significance. The team aims to regroup, especially with the T20 World Cup looming. Their schedule includes crucial T20I series against Afghanistan (three games at home) and Bangladesh (three games away) in early 2024.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe seeks a resurgence following a series of setbacks. Failing to qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and experiencing a 1-2 series loss to Ireland at home, they strive to elevate their performance.
