SummerSlam 2025: WWE has been busy with back-to-back big shows since WrestleMania 41. Events like Backlash, Money in the Bank, Night of Champions, Evolution, and multiple Saturday Night’s Main Event episodes have kept fans hooked almost every weekend.
Now, there’s a short break before the huge two-night SummerSlam on August 2 and 3. This is the first time ever SummerSlam will be held over two nights, and more than 80,000 tickets have already been sold.
The match card looks strong, with big names like CM Punk vs. Gunther already confirmed. But even before the event starts, some mistakes have already been made. Let’s take a look at four of them.
1. Not Enough Build for SummerSlam

One major issue is the lack of build-up. WWE has had so many events in a row that SummerSlam didn’t get the time and focus it deserved. Last weekend alone had three events: Saturday Night’s Main Event, Evolution, and NXT Great American Bash.
Because of this tight schedule, the build for SummerSlam has been weak. With only a few TV shows left before the event, the company is now rushing to hype it up. A big event like SummerSlam deserves more time and story buildup.
2. Jade Cargill vs Tiffany Stratton Feels Strange
Jade Cargill won the Queen of the Ring and earned a title shot. WWE booked her against Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship. But both women are babyfaces (good characters), and that creates a weird situation for fans.
Both are still growing as solo stars. Making the audience choose between two rising fan favorites may not work well. This booking could have been saved for later, after more character development.
3. Bayley Missed Out Again

Bayley has been one of WWE’s most consistent performers this year. She had great matches with Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria, including a strong two-out-of-three falls match on RAW.
Even after such good performances, Bayley is not booked for SummerSlam. Lyra is getting the title shot against Becky instead. Fans might feel Bayley is being overlooked again, just like at WrestleMania. If this continues, WWE risks losing one of its most loyal and skilled stars.
4. Orton and McIntyre Deserve Better

Randy Orton will team up with singer Jellyroll to face Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. The build-up has been fun, and the group even appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
But putting two top stars like Orton and McIntyre in this kind of match feels like a waste. They could’ve been in title matches or major one-on-one feuds. Using them in a celebrity tag team bout may entertain some fans, but it’s not the best use of their talent.
