By this, he became the fourth Indian cricketer to play 100 or more T20 international matches, thus joining the elite list comprising Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya.
Suryakumar Yadav Breaks World Record in Fastest Time
Though Suryakumar Yadav scored only 32 runs in the match for his team, he reached a global achievement. It took him only 1,774 days to reach 100 T20 International matches. This made him the quickest player from a full-member country to achieve this feat.
This is a world record, eclipsing the previously recorded mark, which is set by none other than Babar Azam, with whom Suryakumar Yadav surpassed in 2,410 days. This highlights Suryakumar’s regular appearance in international T20s since he made his debut.
Modest Knock in Historic Meeting
ICC TEST/RANK Suryakumar Yadav made 32 runs off 22 balls with four boundaries and a six in his maiden innings. While he could not carry his opening punch into a substantial batting display, he contributed to India’s continuity in their batting amidst the middle overs.
India Post Record Total Against New Zealand
Team India, who lost the toss and were forced to bat first themselves, produced a superb batting effort, scoring 238/7 in 20 overs. This score is India’s highest ever in a T20 encounter against New Zealand.
Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh Star for India
Abhishek Sharma, the young opener, was the highlight of the match, as he hit 84 runs in just 35 balls at a staggering rate of 240. In his 84-run knock, Abhishek hit eight sixes and five fours. Finisher Rinku Singh gave the perfect finish with unbeaten 44 runs on 20 deliveries with 4 fours & 3 sixes at the strike rate of 220.
New Zealand Bowlers Face Tough Outing
For New Zealand, the most successful bowlers were Jacob Duffy and Kyle Jamieson, both taking two wickets. Christian Clarke, Ish Sodhi, and Mitchell Santner also contributed with one wicket each, but they found it very challenging to hold back India’s attacking batting lineup.
