Swimming World Championships 2024: Athletes To Keep An Eye On
Carson Foster and Michael Andrew, who comprise a strong U.S. team in medleys are swimmers to watch out for at Swimming World Championships in Budapest.
Australia’s former 400m free LC world champion Elijah Winnington, and five-time short course world medallist Isaac Cooper are other top swimmers at the competition.
Great Britain’s Olympic 50m freestyle silver medallist Ben Proud who won the short-course title in 2021, will be hungry to replicate the feat. Canada’s Ilya Kharun, who captured two Olympic bronze medals in 100m and 200m butterfly at Paris 2024, is another top contender in the shorter course.
Olympic champion Hubert Kos is the home favourite at the 200m backstroke event.
In the women’s field, 18-year-old Canada’s McIntosh is an athlete to watch out for in short course competition. She won three medals in 2021

American women swimmers to watch out for include 100m fly LC world record holder Gretchen Walsh, 200m back Olympic champion and 200m breast SC world record holder Kate Douglass, and breaststroke World Record holder Lilly King.
Leon Marchand, who won four gold medals in the Paris Olympics 2024, will be missing from the 2024 World Championships 2024. Other top competitors who have withdrawn from the event include Olympic gold medallists Niccolò Martinenghi, Thomas Ceccon, Kristof Milak, Torri Huske, and Kaylee McKeown.
