T20 is known for its fast-paced nature, as it is often regarded as the format that is heavily tilted in favour of the batters, a saying which seems to be true if we look at how often teams have crossed the 200-run mark in their allotted quota of overs.
The Start
A total of 20 matches have seen teams cross the 200-run mark when it comes to the T20 World Cup, which includes some memorable matches that have presented good battles between bat and ball. Sri Lanka holds the record for scoring the most runs in a T20 World Cup match, which happens to be 260 for five, which the team posted in the inaugural edition of the multination tournament against Kenya.
The Performance
The defending champions of the Men’s T20 World Cup, India, also feature in the list of teams with the highest total in the competition, having done so against England, Afghanistan and Australia. The Men in Blue were able to score 210 runs for the loss of two wickets during the 2021 T20 World Cup against Afghanistan.
The Game
The first instance of India crossing the 200-run mark for the first time in the T20 World Cup came in the famous match where Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad and took the team past 200 in what was a must-win game to stay alive in the tournament.
The latest game, which saw the two-time champions breach the score of 200, was in the super wight clash against Australia in the last edition of the tournament, which the then Rohit Sharma-led side won comprehensively in the end.
