Pro Kabddi League (PKL) franchise Tamil Thalaivas has parted ways with coach Sanjeev Baliyan.
Thalaivas had an underwhelming season in PKL 12 finishing 10th last season with 12 points among 12 teams and failed to make it to the top eight (play-ins).
“Tamil Thalaivas confirm that head coach Sanjeev Baliyan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect,” the team wrote on social media platform X.
The team said that it will announce its new coach in due time.
After their last game, head coach Baliyan alleged that the team management didn’t give him full freedom to select the starting seven and that unfit players were given chances over fit ones. He, alongside team captain Arjun Deshwal, alleged that most of the team’s decisions were made by the analyst.
After this episode, Thalaivas waited for the season to get over and then released a statement on social media.
However, the team asserted that management had given full freedom to the head coach, including team selection, player retention, training, strategy, and all his requests have been fulfilled.
Now, Sanjeev Baliyan has been sacked from the team.

Thalaivas experienced a bumpy season in 2025 amid reports of rift the management and team captain Pawan Sehrawat. He was “sent home” in the middle of the season amid disciplinary grounds.
The Indian national team captain later took to on social media to deny all the allegations. He even stated that he would quit playing Kabaddi if he has been proven guilty.
Earlier, Patna Pirates parted ways with coach Anup Kumar after the conclusion of the PKL 12.
One of the reasons for Kumar’s removal could be his sub-par performance as a coach. Pirates had roped in him ahead of the Season 12. Under his guidance, the team won only 2 out of the 9 matches and were placed at the bottom of the table with just three wins in 13 matches.
Randeep Dalal, who guided Patna Pirates, to a remarkable campaign in the Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) has been released from the team. The franchise has issued no specific communication as to why they have parted ways with the coach.
