After combining with Warner to put Australia on top, Marnus Labuschangne struck a half-century and was removed for 74 in the second session of the day. England bowled a total of 31 overs in the morning session. After bowling England out for 147, Australia’s innings got off to a shaky start as opener Marcus Harris (3) failed to make an impact with the bat and was sent back to the pavilion by Robinson in the sixth over. Labuschagne then joined Warner in the middle, and the pair kept the scoreboard ticking over, ensuring that the hosts had nine wickets in hand going into the second session of the day. Warner was also given a reprieve in Ben Stokes’ opening over, when he was clean bowled off a no-ball and the left-handed hitter was able to live.
