Australian Open
Jannik Sinner started the season on a high note by winning his first Grand Slam- the Australian Open. He beat Andrey Rublev 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals and defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi finals.
In the final, he lost the two initial sets against Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, however, the Russian gave away the lead and lost the match in a five-set marathon handing Sinner his first major title.
Rotterdam Open
Jannik Sinner continued his momentum from the Australian Open at the Rotterdam Open, dropping only one set throughout the tournament. He faced Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur in the final, who he beat 7-5, 6-4, to win his second title of the season.
Miami Open
Sinner reached the finals of the 2024 Miami Open after beating Andrea Vavassori, Tallon Griekspoor, Christopher O’Connell, and Tomas Machac and Daniil Medvedev. In the final, he faced Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov, who beat Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Hubert Hurkacz en route. The Italian dominantly won against Dimitrov lost 6-3, 6-1.
Halle Open
Seeded first at the grass-court tournament, Sinner started his campaign with a win over Tallon Griekspoor. He then defeated Fabian Marozsan and Jan-Lennard Struff to reach the semifinals where he beat China’s Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). He beat Hubert Hurkacz of Poland in the final 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-2).
Cincinnati Open
The 23-year-old clinched the Cincinnati Open title, defeating American Frances Tiafoe in straight sets, 7-6 (7/4), 6-2. This marked Sinner’s third major tournament win of the year. After prevailing in the first-set tiebreaker, Sinner dominated the second set. Tiafoe fought back but the Italian eventually won the title.
US Open
Jannik Sinner won his second grand slam at the US Open. He defeated four Americans on his way to lift the title. Sinner defeated Fritz 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 with an 88% first-serve win percentage. In the second set and third set, Sinner did not lose a single point on his first serve and unleashed fiery groundstrokes to dominate the proceedings.
Shanghai Masters
The world number one defeated Novak Djokovic in the final to win the Shanghai Masters title. He beat the Serbian 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, hit 8 aces and 22 winners. Sinner also became the first Italian to win the singles title in Shanghai since the tournament’s inception into the ATP tour in 2009.
