India won seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics, recorded their highest number of medals in the history of the Tokyo Olympics. India’s previous best performance in the Olympics came in the year 2012 London Games where they won six Olympic medals. One of the biggest highlights of India’s performance in this year’s Tokyo Olympics is that India’s javelin thrower winning the gold medal. In this year’s Tokyo Olympics India won one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals Tokyo Olympics.
India’s only gold medal in this Tokyo Olympics came from javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. The two-silver medal was won by weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and wrestler Ravi Dahiya. The bronze medal came from ace shuttler PV Sindhu, boxer Lovlina Borgohain, wrestler Bajrang Punia and at last men’s created history by winning bronze. It was weightlifter Mirabai Chanu who gave India the first Olympic medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
India’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain won a bronze medal to add to the total number of medals won by India in this Tokyo Olympics. Previous to this she lost in the semi-final hereby losing the opportunity to win a silver medal for India, but she emerged victorious in the bronze medal match.
One of the fascinating aspects of this year’s Tokyo Olympics for India other than the Neeraj Chopra gold medal is the performances of both the men’s and women’s hockey teams. Both of them have performed exceptionally well than in the last 2016 Olympics.
India’s women’s team sadly lost the opportunity to win the bronze medal by a very narrow margin to Britain. However, the men’s hockey team managed to win a bronze medal against Germany by ending a drought of over four decades of not winning an Olympic medal. They would have been much happier if they beat Belgium in the semi-final which they couldn’t. But a lot of credits should go to both men’s and women’s hockey teams as they showed improved performances in this year’s Tokyo Olympics.
Then India’s wrestler Ravi Dahiya qualified for the finals of the men’s freestyle 57 kg after winning over Kazahstan’s Nurislam Sanayev. He tried his level best to win the gold medal for India but he could not defeat Zavur Uguev, former two-time world champion. He won India the second medal in the Tokyo Olympics Games.
It on this Saturday has won the Bronze medal match against Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov as she won India the sixth medal and finally it was Neeraj Chopra who won a first gold medal for India in this Tokyo Olympics and gave India the seventh medal.
