Best PKL Coaches: The Pro Kabaddi League has transformed the landscape of Kabaddi not only in India but across the world. While it is the players who come under the limelight most of the times, it is the coaches who prepare the players for big moments in the match.
In this article, let us have a look at some of the top PKL coaches in the history:
Manpreet Singh
Manpreet Singh holds the record of most wins by a head coach in the history of PKL. He etched his name in history by becoming the first coach in the league’s history to register 100 wins. He has led the Haryana Steelers to a title victory in Season 11 and has a strong record with other teams, including leading the Gujarat Giants to back-to-back finals in Seasons 5 and 6.
Randhir Singh Sehrawat
Randhir Singh Sehrawat was associated with Bengaluru Bulls for a long time. A veteran coach, he had been with the same franchise since the league’s inception. He led the Bengaluru Bulls to their first-ever PKL title in Season 6 and has guided the team to multiple playoff appearances. For Season 12, he was replaced by BC Ramesh.
Sehrawat has given many Kabaddi stars to the country. In the P.K.L he was the Kabaddi coach in Railways. There the Railways won a total of 8 titles under the coaching of Randhir Singh Sehrawat.
B.C. Ramesh
B.C. Ramesh is a two-time PKL title-winning coach. He led the Bengal Warriors to their maiden trophy in Season 7. He was also the head coach when Puneri Paltan won their first title in Season 10. He also has a title as an assistant coach with the Bengaluru Bulls.
Ramesh has been giving kabaddi coaching since 2015. In 2016, BC Ramesh decided to switch from coaching international teams to the exciting Pro Kabaddi League. He started by coaching Puneri Paltan in Season 5, but then he found new adventures.
In Season 6, he became the assistant coach for the Bengaluru Bulls and the team won the trophy that year. The next season, he moved to Bengal to coach the Bengal Warriors and the team lifted the championship trophy.
In 2021, BC Ramesh returned to Puneri Paltan as their coach for the 9th season of the Pro Kabaddi League and finished second on the points table.
Ram Mehar Singh
Considered one of the best PKL coaches in history, Ram Mehar Singh guided the Patna Pirates to two league titles. He has also successfully guided the Gujarat Giants to the playoffs.
From 2009 to 2014, Ram Mehar coached the Indian Kabaddi Team, further solidifying his reputation. His accolades include the Swabhiman Award, Bhim Award, and Best Sportsman Awards from both the Service, all in 2001, as well as the Best Sportsman Award of the Air Force in 1999.

Sanjeev Baliyan
Sanjeev Baliyan has an incredible coaching record, having won titles with two different teams. He guided the Patna Pirates to the championship in Season 3 and later coached the Jaipur Pink Panthers to their second title in Season 9.
Krishan Kumar Hooda
A Dronacharya Awardee, Krishan Kumar Hooda’s most remarkable achievement is helping Dabang Delhi K.C. to their first-ever PKL championship in Season 8. He has also coached the Telugu Titans and is known for his pragmatic and disciplined approach.
