We’ll talk about some other cricket leagues that have played a significant role in women’s cricket since the WPL 2023 began play on March 4 and has performed incredibly well around the world.

Women’s Big Bash League (Australia)

In Australia, there is a professional women’s Twenty20 cricket league known as the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Since its establishment in 2015, popularity has increased. The league consists of eight teams that represent various cities throughout the nation, and the games take place from October to December during the Australian summer.

The WBBL, which features many of the top international players in the world, has been a major factor in the development of women’s cricket in Australia. It has also contributed to the overall growth of the game in the nation and served as inspiration for a new generation of female cricket players.

Kia Super League (KSL)

The Kia Super League (KSL) was an English women’s Twenty20 cricket league that was founded in 2016 and disbanded in 2019.

Six regional teams from England and Wales competed in a women’s Twenty20 cricket league that ran from 2016 to 2019. The Hundred, a new domestic women’s league, began in 2020 after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) decided to replace the league. The Hundred is a new format that uses 100 balls per inning and is played by eight city-based teams, both men’s and women’s.

Women’s T20 Challenge (India)

A professional Twenty20 cricket league in India for women’s cricket teams is called the Women’s T20 Challenge. The competition, which debuted in 2018, is played concurrently with the men’s Indian Premier League (IPL) competition.

Three teams, each representing an Indian city, compete in the Women’s T20 Challenge. Supernovas, representing Jaipur, Trailblazers, representing Mumbai, and Velocity are the names of the teams (representing Kolkata).

Each team in the competition plays two games against the other two teams in a round-robin format. The final is then played between the top two teams in the league table.

England’s Hundred Women’s Competition

A professional Twenty20 cricket league for women’s teams in England and Wales is called The Hundred Women’s Competition. It was introduced in 2021 as a component of The Hundred, a brand-new regional framework that also features a men’s competition. The competition, which is run by the England and Wales Cricket Board, features eight teams from various parts of England (ECB).

The Hundred Women’s Competition gives international athletes the chance to compete in England by allowing each team to field up to three players from abroad. Each team plays 100 balls per inning instead of the usual 20 overs in the competition’s unusual format. Accordingly, each inning consists of 100 balls, 25 of which are bowled from one end and 25 from the other.

Women’s Super Smash (New Zealand)

A domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament for women’s teams in New Zealand is called the Women’s Super Smash. The 2015–16 season saw the competition’s debut, and New Zealand Cricket is in charge of running it. Six teams from various regions of New Zealand compete in the Women’s Super Smash, which is played in a round-robin format before moving on to a knockout stage.

Since its inception, the Women’s Super Smash has taken place every year, and it has been instrumental in promoting women’s cricket in New Zealand. The competition draws many of the best national players as well as international superstars, raising the level of cricket in New Zealand and fostering the growth of young talent.

Caribbean Women’s Premier League

The Women’s Caribbean Premier League, a domestic Twenty20 women’s cricket competition held in the West Indies, made its debut in 2022. For sponsorship reasons, it was also known as the Massy WCPL 2022. All of the games took place in Saint Kitts from August 31 to September 4, 2022, during the tournament. The Sixty, a T10 competition, took place before the contest. The Trinbago Knight Riders took first place.
