Tottenham Agree £55m Deal For Mohammed Kudus From West Ham: Here We Go

Tottenham Hijack the Kudus Express with £55m Deal: West Ham Finally Say Yes

Tottenham Hotspur have just made one of the biggest transfer splashes of the summer and it’s got London rivalry written all over it. Spurs have agreed a £55 million deal with West Ham United to sign Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus, prising him away from the Hammers after some serious negotiations.

Initially, West Ham were having none of it. They turned down Spurs’ opening £50m bid and didn’t look too keen on selling to a direct London rival. But money talks and £55m seems to have done enough talking to get the deal over the line.

Kudus, 24, still had an £85m release clause in his contract

Kudus, 24, still had an £85m release clause in his contract, but Spurs have played it smart. The midfielder-winger hybrid will now undergo a medical on Thursday and is set to sign a six-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Talk about long-term planning.

He’s been one of the Hammers’ few shining lights since joining from Ajax in 2023 for £38m. In just 65 Premier League appearances, Kudus racked up 13 goals and 9 assists, not too shabby for someone who floats between midfield and attack like it’s nothing. No wonder at least six top clubs were sniffing around recently.

But Kudus had his eyes set on North London.

Sources say he prioritised Spurs over everyone else including Chelsea, who were offered the player but didn’t bother putting in a bid.

New Spurs boss Thomas Frank made signing a winger his top priority, initially eyeing up Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. But when it became clear that Mbeumo fancied Manchester United instead, Spurs pivoted to Kudus. Smart move? It looks that way.

Meanwhile, they’re still keeping tabs on Mbeumo’s Brentford buddy Yoane Wissa, who has one year left on his contract. Don’t be surprised if Spurs double-dip.

As for West Ham? This deal could be the one that jumpstarts their summer business. One door closes, but the cheque book opens.
