Trent Rockets Confirm Peter Moores As New Head Coach

3 Min Read

Trent Rockets have formally confirmed Peter Moores as their new head coach following Andy Flower’s switch to take charge of London Spirit. Moores had been the clear frontrunner for the job, particularly after being assistant to Flower last summer.

Appointment Aligned With New Ownership Vision

It is part of the new ownership structure at Trent Rockets, following the acquisition of a 49% stake in the franchise by private equity investors Cain and Ares earlier this year. The new structure is designed to underpin strong leadership and long-term development of the team.

Extensive Coaching Experience Across Formats

Moores brings a wealth of coaching experience. Off the back of his main role as head coach at Nottinghamshire, he has been involved in a number of franchise leagues including the Big Bash League with Melbourne Stars and the Pakistan Super League.

Moores is excited about the new role.

Elaborating on his excitement, Moores said that taking charge of the Rockets comes at just the right time. He described his new role as one that allows him to build on the excellent base set by Andy Flower and is looking forward to the Hundred auction to strengthen the depth and competitiveness of the squad.

Recent Performance Highlights

The Trent Rockets finished second in the 2025 Men’s Hundred, falling short only to the dominant Oval Invincibles. Along with that, Moores led Nottinghamshire to a County Championship title and in doing so became the first coach to win the trophy with three different counties, a testament to his exceptional coaching pedigree.

Management’s Vote of Confidence

Mick Newell, director of cricket for Trent Rockets, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Peter Moores to the role of head coach. Moores is one of England’s finest modern coaches who has a winning mentality, is development-focused, and knows conditions at Trent Bridge intimately – all qualities which make him the perfect successor to Flower.”
