Following an incredible performance by Rinku Singh against Gujarat Titans in the final over, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their second victory of the year. After making a stunning catch in the final over, Rinku spoke to Yash Dayal. Notably, on Sunday, April 9, the second doubleheader between the defending champions and KKR was played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
In the final over against Rashid Khan’s Titans, KKR needed to score 29 runs, and Rinku Singh faced off against the young Yash Dayal. Rinku wrote history for his team KKR despite the odds being stacked against them by hitting five consecutive sixes to secure victory. Rinku also shared his message for Yash, who worked extremely hard to defend the total in the final over, after the incredible innings.
Rinku Singh (in India today) said "I texted Yash after the game, saying it happens in cricket, you did really well last year, I just tried to motivate him a little".

Keep the faith and persevere to the end: Nitish Rana
It is important to note that Rinku scored eight runs off 14 balls in the competition’s penultimate over. The batter from Uttar Pradesh revealed that captain Nitish Rana had stood by him all the way through, and it had paid off handsomely in the thrilling match. He impressively scored 40 runs (6,4,6,6,6,6,6) in the following seven deliveries to help his team secure the game’s second straight victory. Gujarat suffered their first loss of the year as a result, thanks to KKR.
Rana’s words of wisdom for Rinku were, “Belief rakhiyo, aakhri tak kheliyo” (Keep the Belief, Stay Until the End).
The 25-year-old’s miraculous innings has stunned the cricket community, and Rinku will aim to keep up his strong performance in the match. On Friday, April 14, Nitish Rana and company will play Sunrisers Hyderabad at the historic Eden Gardens with the goal of gaining two more points. With four points and a respectable Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.375, KKR is currently in second place in the points table.
