Yashasvi Jaiswal
The IPL (Indian Premier League) has provided a big platform for young cricketers, where they can showcase their talent. Many young players make their mark through this league and later travel to international cricket. This platform provides a golden opportunity especially for uncapped batsmen (players who have not played any international match for their national team so far). So far, many uncapped batsmen have performed brilliantly in the IPL and scored a large number of runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal performed brilliantly in IPL 2023, scoring 625 runs and holding the record for scoring the most runs in the category of uncapped batsmen. He broke Shaun Marsh’s 16-year-old record while playing for Rajasthan Royals. His brilliant performance showed him the way to the Indian cricket team and he is now also a part of the 2024 T20 World Cup Squad.
Shaun Marsh’s name has been shining since the beginning of IPL. He scored 616 runs in IPL 2008 while playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). His record remained intact for a long time and he became the first uncapped foreign batsman to win the Orange Cap. Marsh is still the only foreign uncapped player to have scored more than 500 runs in a season.
Riyan Parag performed brilliantly in IPL 2024 and scored 525 runs in 12 innings of 13 matches. He started his IPL journey with Rajasthan Royals in 2019. Although he could not impress much in the initial seasons, his performance this time has taken him to a new height. He has a chance to add more runs this season, which can also make him the first in the list.
Ishan Kishan scored 516 runs while playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020. After making his debut for Gujarat Lions in 2016, Kishan impressed everyone with his strong game in 2020. His brilliant batting established him as the most expensive player in the IPL 2022 mega auction, where Mumbai Indians bought him.
Suryakumar Yadav scored 512 runs while playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2018. This season was special for him as he became the first uncapped Indian player to score more than 500 runs in a season. His brilliant performance soon earned him a place in the Indian team.
All these players hold a special place in the history of IPL due to their performance. Their contribution has not only strengthened their teams but has also given them a chance to be a part of international cricket. This platform of IPL remains a precious opportunity for young players to move forward and improve their game.
