Five of the world’s Top 10 men and four of the world’s Top 10 women headline a star-studded field for the United Cup 2026, with tournament organisers confirming player entries for the mixed-team event set to open the new tennis season from 2–11 January in Sydney and Perth.
Now in its fourth edition, the United Cup continues to grow as one of the sport’s premier international team competitions, featuring national squads of up to three men and three women competing side-by-side in a unique format that blends the ATP and WTA Tours.
USA Lead the Field as Top Seeds
Two-time champions Team USA return as the tournament’s top seeds, powered by the formidable duo of World No.3 Coco Gauff and World No.6 Taylor Fritz. The Americans, winners in 2023 and 2025, will look to defend their United Cup crown with one of the most balanced and experienced squads in the draw.
Runners-Up Poland Return with Elite Firepower
Six-time major champion Iga Swiatek, the current World No.2, once again spearheads Team Poland, joined by ATP Top-10 star Hubert Hurkacz. The Polish team, runners-up in 2025, enters 2026 as one of the favourites to challenge the Americans.
Germany, Led by Zverev, Chases Second Title
World No.3 Alexander Zverev will guide Team Germany at United Cup 2026, partnering with rising WTA talent Eva Lys. The 2024 champions arrive motivated to reclaim the trophy and add to their past success.
Japan Makes High-Profile Debut
A major storyline in the upcoming United Cup will be Team Japan’s debut, headlined by four-time Grand Slam winner and former World No.1 Naomi Osaka. She teams with Shintaro Mochizuki, the 2019 Junior Wimbledon champion, as Japan enters the event for the first time.
Others
- Italy fields World No.8 Jasmine Paolini, a Roland Garros and Wimbledon finalist in 2024, alongside rising ATP star Flavio Cobolli.
- Great Britain unveils a refreshed roster featuring World No.10 Jack Draper and 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu.
- Switzerland relies on former Grand Slam champions Stan Wawrinka and Belinda Bencic, both Olympic medalists.
- Greece once again turns to popular stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari, both former World No.3s.
- Canada arrives with World No.8 Félix Auger-Aliassime and rising WTA talent Victoria Mboko.
Host Nation Australia Fields Strongest Squad Yet
Competing on home soil, Australia will showcase World No.7 Alex de Minaur and new national No.1 Maya Joint (World No.32), supported by Jason Kubler, Maddison Inglis, John-Patrick Smith and former World No.1 doubles player Storm Hunter. The Australian lineup appears deeper than in previous years and could produce a strong run.
Other Notable Entrants
The 2026 edition also features:
- Barbora Krejcikova and Jakub Mensik for Czechia- Mensik being the youngest player in the world’s Top 20.
- World No.12 Casper Ruud representing Norway.
- Zhizhen Zhang and Zhu Lin anchoring Team China.
A Blockbuster Season Opener Awaits
With 18 countries represented and a record number of Top-10 stars, the United Cup is poised to deliver one of its most competitive editions yet. The official draw will take place Monday, setting the stage for 10 days of world-class tennis just ahead of the Australian Open.
Fans in both Sydney and Perth can expect electrifying matches, national pride on display, and the rare thrill of seeing ATP and WTA stars compete together on the same team- a format that continues to make the United Cup one of the sport’s most unique and compelling events.
