In UP Yoddhas vs Tamil Thalaivas match at the SMS Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, UP Yoddhas defeated Tamil Thalaivas by a convincing win of 39-22 on Monday. The win brought to a close a four-game losing run for the Yoddhas in PKL Season 12.
Leading the charge was Sumit Sangwan, who received a High Five, supported by impressive defensive performances by Mahender Singh and Ashu Singh, both picking up four tackle points apiece.
Balanced Begin in UP Yoddhas vs Tamil Thalaivas match
There was no lack of intensity in the first match between UP Yoddhas and Tamil Thalaivas, right from the energy Nitesh Kumar displayed early for the Thalaivas, making his own plays with some fierce tackles. Narender Kandola also scored points in both raiding and defence.
For UP Yoddhas, Gagan Gowda and Bhavani Rajput put points on the board first with Bhavani even scoring a two-point raid to provide UP Yoddhas with the lead early.
Although Arjun Deshwal got off to an abnormally slow start, just two points, the Tamil Thalaivas held close early on. However, after Shivam Chaudhary’s multi-point raid, UP Yoddhas started to move ahead and soon held a narrow but meaningful margin.
UP Yoddhas Take Command With Defensive Brilliance
The Yoddhas started showing their dominance towards the end of the first half, taking advantage of Tamil Thalaivas’ raiding woes. Despite Nitesh Kumar registering a High Five for the Thalaivas, his team could score merely two raid points for the whole first half. UP’s defenders, Ashu Singh and Mahender Singh in particular, performed well, which led their team to go into halftime with a 15-10 lead.
Second Half Surge: UP Yoddhas Impose Two ALL OUTs
The second half witnessed the Yoddhas move ahead with their lead. A perfectly executed ALL OUT, finished off by a tackle from Ashu Singh, gave them total dominance. With Bhavani Rajput still raiding effectively and Gagan Gowda covering, the UP defence went into overdrive.
Soon enough, another ALL OUT was dealt this time once again led by Ashu Singh. The defense trio of Sumit Sangwan, Ashu Singh, and Mahender Singh were unstoppable. Sangwan was especially impressive, earning himself his High Five and putting UP’s dominance at seventeen points.
Tamil Thalaivas Struggle to Respond
Tamil Thalaivas struggled to fight back, as their offence was dysfunctional during the game. Narender and Nitesh Kumar tried in vain, but their raiding attack couldn’t break the Yoddhas’ well-organised defence. With Arjun Deshwal out of sync, the Thalaivas had no strength to carry the attack, leading UP to hold court until the end.
Final Score: UP Yoddhas 39-22 Tamil Thalaivas
The UP Yoddhas triumphed decisively 39-22 in the match, which was a welcome turn of events in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12. Sumit Sangwan’s High Five, confident raids from Bhavani and Gagan, and a defensive spectacle from everyone not only ended UP Yoddhas’ losing run but also sent a serious message to the other teams in the league.
